The March family reading a letter from their father.

The theme of Little Women is to remember and be grateful for what you have, not what you want and putting others before yourself. Amy showed both these traits when she bought Marmee a big present, instead of using her money selfishly for herself. Beth cared for the Hummel baby, knowing that she too, may get ill, placing others' needs before her own. When Aunt March told Meg to marry for money, she refused and knew that love and happiness are more important than riches, thinking that what she had was enough. Remembering and being grateful for what you have, not want and putting others before yourself are the morals of Little Women.
